Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda is in the process of being approved by the authorities, and once that happens, the deal will finally be able to close. The EU have been looking into the deal, and have recently provided an update on the progress of the investigation.

In a recently published notification, the Commission confirmed that after a preliminary investigation, their current findings indicate that the proposed acquisition of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax “could fall within the scope of the Merger Regulation.” The Commission adds that a final decision is still yet to be made, and that they’ve now invited interested third parties to “submit their possible observations on the proposed operation”. The third parties will have until February 15 to do so.

Meanwhile, the notification in question also mentions that as part of the acquisition, Microsoft is planning on setting up a new subsidiary called “Vault”, which is what the ZeniMax company will be merged with.

The EU will arrive at a final decision regarding the acquisition by March 5. Stay tuned to GamingBolt until then for more updates.
