DOOM Eternal chainsaw

Last year’s DOOM Eternal was quite something. The game was a relentless follow up the 2016 reboot that attempted to bridge the gap between the various DOOM incarnations. It was largely well-received, and its saga will wrap up tomorrow in its second expansion pass, The Ancient Gods – Part 2. It wasn’t quite the cup of tea of some fans, who thought the focus on lore and just brutal action was a bit much, but apparently, it hit with most in all the right ways.

Speaking with PC Gamer, Director Hugo Martin talked in detail about Eternal and its upcoming DLC. There’s a lot of details about it there, but an interesting bit of information was toward the end. When talking about the game’s incredible difficulty spike, Martin revealed that the completion rate was “much higher” than 2016’s DOOM. He doesn’t go into specific details, but it does seem that more people finished up the brutal game than its predecessor, which goes to show just how many enjoyed Eternal.

DOOM Eternal is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Stadia. The Ancient Gods – Part 2 will release for all of those platforms, sans the Switch, on March 18th. It’s not clear when or if the Switch version will get the DLC.
