Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker

Final Fantasy 14 has become a huge cornerstone for Square Enix. The MMORPG has just passed 24 million players to become the most profitable game in the franchise. It’s also seen critical and player praise ever since it was essentially rebuilt from the ground up for a major relaunch after its original disastrous launch. Having both its own ongoing storyline as well as pulling from all Final Fantasy, it is quite an amazing achievement. It’s also been completely absent from Xbox for the entire decade plus it has ran. There’s been rumors and murmurs that would change, but it never amounts to anything solid. Well, today, we did get something from the game’s Director/Producer that indicates it could still happen.

Speaking with Easy Allies, Naoki Yoshida (commonly known as Yoshi-P), was asked about a potential Xbox version. He apologized for not saying anything new, as he’s said before the game could come to Xbox, but reiterated that discussions are still ongoing with Microsoft about bringing the game over to that ecosystem. Interestingly, he would not outright say there was no Xbox version and there would be a lot to share about the subject that can’t be talked about at this time. You can see the interview below.

Yoshida stated earlier this year that the game still has five years worth of content planned, regardless of whether a Xbox version will come or not. The game originally launched on PC, and has since released on PS3 (which is no longer supported), PS4 and now PS5. It feels like there’s a lot of flirtation around the idea of the game coming to the Xbox side, but whether it’ll happen is anyone’s guess. Apparently, we still have half a decade of content so there is still plenty of time.
