Remember The Astronauts’ Witchfire? In development since 2015 end, it was formally announced at The Game Awards 2017. Since then, the development team has been pushing out regular updates, though it’s been pushed back a fair bit (with a 2020 release previously being seen as “reasonable”).
Fortunately, that looks to be changing soon. Over on Twitter, The Astronauts shared a small clip of gameplay showcasing combat with the protagonist dodging back to avoid an attack and freezing the enemies in front. It also promised a “fat” update next week which would discuss “release date, features, and other thrilling stuff.”
Witchfire is currently in development for PC with Unreal Engine 4 as its main engine. If a release date is happening this year, it’s possible that other platforms could be announced (perhaps Xbox Series X/S and PS5) and more gameplay footage will be showcased. We’ll need to wait for more details so stay tuned and don’t get your hopes up just yet.
It's Wednesday, my witch hunters, so here's entire four seconds of #Witchfire in glorious Twitter video quality!
