Capcom has said in its recent quarterly earnings report that it plans on releasing “multiple major new titles” in the 2022-23 fiscal year (April 2022-March 2023). As a result, the company is expecting significantly greater activity in terms of releases and, in turn, significantly greater sales for the period.

The company says it currently plans on launching a total of 45 SKUs throughout the period (it’s worth noting that for multiplatform releases, each different platform version of a single game is counted as a different SKU). In the previous fiscal year, Capcom released 24 new SKUs, 14 in the year before that, and 35 in the year before that.

From those 45 new SKUs, the company is expecting a total of 37 million units of software sales, as opposed to 32.6 million in the previous year. Of those 37 million, Capcom projects 10 million sales to be for newly released games (as opposed to 8.6 million in the previous year), and 27 million for back catalog titles (as opposed to 24 million in the previous year).

Capcom’s back catalog sales have enjoyed steady sales over prolonged periods, with Resident Evil and Monster Hunter games in particular exhibiting long legs, so the sales projections in that area don’t come as a surprise (especially with Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak launching soon, and DLC also being in the works for Resident Evil Village).

As for what Capcom could have lined up for the fiscal year by way of new releases, a number of these have already been officially confirmed so far, including the likes of Capcom Fighting Collectionand PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7Additionally, Resident Evil Re:Verse and Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium are also likely to launch in this period.

Street Fighter 6 has been officially announced, though a release date for the game is yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, Exoprimal and Pragmata both currently have 2023 launch windows, though it remains to be seen whether either of them will launch before April, which is when the current fiscal year will close.

Beyond what’s been officially confirmed, the likes of Resident Evil 4 remake and Dragon’s Dogma 2 have both been heavily leaked for a while, but official word on both remains scant for now.

With Summer Game Fest coming up in less than a month, it remains to be seen whether Capcom will choose to unveil any of its major upcoming games in the near future.
