CD Projekt’s financial results for Q1 FY 2022 have revealed that the next-gen version and update 1.5 for Cyberpunk 2077 had a positive effect on the game. In the presentation by CEO Adam Kiciński, it was said that the update seems to have had a big impact on the sales of Cyberpunk 2077 across all the platforms that the game is currently available on.
Kiciński also stated that, despite the success of the game thanks to its updates and the next-gen upgrade, there are still more players to reach. The studio is working on update 2.6 for Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt has also historically provided long-term support for its games in the form of DLC. The first major expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release in 2023, which presumably gives the studio time to try and improve the game further.
During the presentation, Kiciński also provided some updates on the development of the next Witcher game. According to Kiciński, CD Projekt has formed a strategic partnership with Epic Games to use Unreal Engine 5, and the studio is currently happy with the project.
The next Witcher game currently has over a 100 developers working on its pre-production stage. This essentially means that the game is quite a ways away from getting a release date.
