Ubisoft’s upcoming remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been in development for quite some time at this point, and the delays just don’t stop coming. The French publisher had previously stated that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake will be releasing before April 2023, although it seems that plans have once again changed.

Ubisoft recently delisted the game on several retailer sites like GameStop and Amazon (which were previously taking pre-orders for the game), which practically forced the developer to confirm the delay in an official capacity.

In a statement sent out to multiple media outlets, Ubisoft said (via PC Gamer), “We’re proud of the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake. As a consequence, we are no longer targeting an FY23 release anymore and the game has been delisted.”

Ubisoft has also said that those who wish to cancel their pre-orders can do so by contacting their respective retailers, but the company stresses that development on the project is moving along.

“If players wish to cancel their preorder they are invited to contact their retailer,” Ubisoft says. “They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along.”

This comes shortly after the project switched developers from Ubisoft’s Pune and Mumbai studios over to Ubisoft Montreal, which would obviously have had a dire effect on development deadlines.

Interestingly, Ubisoft is reportedly also hard at work on an upcoming 2.5D Prince of Persia game that’s inspired by Ori– read more on that through here.
