After more than a year of rumors, Xbox Game Studios finally announced its collaboration with Kojima Productions for a new exclusive Xbox game. Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima noted it to be a “unique” title that he’s wanted to make for a while, and it will use Microsoft’s cloud technology.

Lest this raise doubts about the company’s relationship with PlayStation, Kojima Productions recently tweeted, “As an independent creative studio, #KojimaProductions will continue pursuing work on creations for our fans. We will explore various possibilities with games, movies, and music through platforms that evolve with time and technology. We look forward to your continued support!”

It followed up with, “After the announcement of our partnership with Microsoft using the cloud technology, many people have asked us about our collaboration with SIE. Please be assured that we continue to have a very good partnership with PlayStation as well.”

As such, this isn’t too surprising. Norman Reedus confirmed that Death Stranding 2 was in the works. Since the original has yet to release on a non-PlayStation console, it’s safe to assume that it will be exclusive to PS5 (and potentially PC). There’s also Overdose, Kojima Productions’ recently leaked horror title though its platforms – and overall existence – haven’t been officially announced.

In the meantime, stay tuned for more details on the Kojima’s Xbox-exclusive title which is rumored to be part of an existing IP.
