Immortality

Half Mermaid Productions’ Immortality has faced a delay. Instead of releasing on July 26th, it will now launch on August 30th for Xbox Series X/S, PC, iOS and Android (along with launching day one on Game Pass). Director Sam Barlow noted in a recent tweet, “It has taken decades for Marissa Marcel’s work to find the light of day, so we’re happy to spend a month more to ensure the experience is as polished as possible.

“We hope everyone anticipating the game will understand this necessary evil and continue to prepare to dig into the most complex mystery I have tried to answer yet: what happened to Marissa Marcel?”

Who is Marissa Marcel though? In Immortality, she’s the lead actor in three fictional films – The Monk (1968), Minsky (1970) and Two of Everything (1999). The crazy part is that none of these films has ever been released and Marcel would eventually go missing. It’s up to an individual named “Barlow” in the present year to unravel the mystery and piece together Marcel’s fate.

To do this, players will need to examine each film, matching together different shots and discovering the various connections between them. Despite being an Xbox console exclusive at launch, Immortality is coming to additional platforms later. Stay tuned for more details on in the coming days.
