SIE Santa Monica’s eagerly awaited God of War Ragnarok is Game Informer’s cover story for the month, and it promised roughly four minutes of new gameplay footage. About one minute and 39 seconds of gameplay can be seen in a new video. Check it out below.

The video highlights some new combat aspects, like Weapon Signature Moves. If you have the Blades of Chaos or Leviathan Axe equipped, pressing Triangle will charge them with fire or ice, dealing extra damage to foes. The Stonewall Shield is also briefly showcased, building up energy from enemy hits to unleash a slam attack that launches foes (including reptilian creatures known as Grims).

Atreus can be seen attacking foes at range and with his bow, and it’s possible to direct him to destroy different structures. If enemies are on top of said structures, they’ll come tumbling down. Kratos also has more vertical movement options, from jumping off a ledge to attack with his axe to grappling up with the Blades of Chaos.

God of War Ragnarok is out on November 9th for PS4 and PS5. Stay tuned for more gameplay in the coming days.
