In response to a recent report that said that Sony was cutting down its forecast for PlayStation VR2 headset sales, the company has revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that it will not be reducing production of the headset.

Sony stated that it is “seeing enthusiasm from PlayStation fans for the upcoming launch, which includes more than 30 titles such as Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Call of the Mountain, and Resident Evil Village.”

The original report indicated that the forecast was reduced because of disappointing pre-order numbers. Its reported new forecast for the PlayStation VR2 now is that it is expecting to ship 1 million units in the current quarter, and 1.5 million units by the end of the upcoming financial year. This reduction in Sony’s forecast was by half.

The PlayStation VR2 is right around the corner, set to release on February 22. Priced at $549.99, the VR headset is slated to launch alongside a number of new games as well as ports of older VR games.
