Arkane Studios’ Redfall has received some new information recently, courtesy of a Community Q&A on Discord. The development team discussed dynamic difficulty scaling and how things become more challenging with additional players. It also discussed The Rook, a massive hulking vampire that seemingly powers through most abilities.

Given the resemblance to Prey’s Nightmare, fans wondered if it’s summoned procedurally or only at specific points in the campaign. “Once the Rook is introduced into the game, he’s summoned as a result of actions you take from that point forward. If you take more actions that anger the Vampire Gods, you’ll see him more than once.” Long story short, your actions have consequences.

In terms of cosmetic customization, players have head accessories, backpack skins and full outfits. However, the developer revealed that aside from pre-order bonuses, all cosmetics are unlockable through gameplay, either as rewards or by exploring around. With the sheer amount of abandoned homes to explore, there’s potential for cosmetic variety in what players will find.

Redfall launches on May 2nd for Xbox Series X/S and PC and is coming to Game Pass on day one. Check out the latest trailer here, which showcases the various locations.
