The Last of Us Part 1 had a very controversial start on PC, with many users reporting the port broken in several ways. Naughty Dog acknowledged the complaints and already issued a hotfix for some of them. It’s now released another hotfix to improve memory and performance.
For instance, the PSO cache size has decreased, which reduces memory requirements and should reduce crashes caused by “Out of Memory.” The animation streaming memory is increased for better performance during gameplay and cinematics. Finally, there’s a fix for crashing on the first boot.
The hotfix also added more diagnostics for the developer’s tracking purposes, but Naughty Dog is also “closely watching” player reports. Expect even more patches and fixes in the coming days.
The Last of Us Part 1 is also available on PS5 and received strong acclaim upon its release on the console. Check out our official review here. Naughty Dog has committed to developing games for PC and PS5, so hopefully, future ports will have fewer problems.
