MultiVersus

In keeping with its announcement last week, Player First Games’ MultiVersus has been delisted from online storefronts. It’s still downloadable for current owners, though Gleamium can no longer be purchased. The open beta will go offline on June 25th, so enjoy it now while you can.

MultiVersus launched in July 2022 and garnered over 144,000 concurrent players on the first day through Steam alone. It would cross 10 million players in two weeks and 20 million in less than a month. However, due to various bugs, XP being doubled for Mastery Track levels 3 to 15, and other unpopular changes, the player count declined.

As a result, Player First is taking the open beta offline and focusing on the full launch in early 2024. It’s looking to improve matchmaking, update the netcode, revamp the progression system and much more. While online modes and features won’t be available, The Lab and local matches are still accessible, with progress carrying over into the full release.
