Over the course of the last year or so, a number of developers and publishers have made the decision to not have their games officially available for purchase in Russia, with said policy changes being brought on by by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It seems another major upcoming title is going to join that list.

As reported by PCGamesN, Bethesda seems to have removed support for the Russian language for Starfield, as evidenced by updates made to the game’s Steam backend and listen on its SteamDB page. Said listing confirms that support for Russian subtitles and audio have been removed from the game (screencap below).

Interestingly, past Bethesda Game Studios RPGs like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and Fallout 4 have launched with Russian support and still feature it, while upcoming Bethesda-published title Redfall is going to feature support for Russian as well. It remains to be seen whether that’s something that will change, or if the Starfield change is something that will be reversed. For now, Microsoft and Bethesda haven’t made any official statements regarding the same.

Recently, Sony also took Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores off the Russian PlayStation Store- read more on that through here.

Starfield is due out on September 6 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and will be getting a dedicated Direct showcase on June 11.
