Kojima explains the concept behind the latest Rising trailer

Posted By | On 13th, Dec. 2011

He said that Japanese developers have been struggling in the western market, which is of course true, when you look at the sales of some of the Japanese games. He revealed that it gave an image of a scene where two cultures collide where a Samurai with a sword is confronting a westerner with a gun.

This is what he posted, “Behind the concept of “RISING” trailer. Perceiving from western market, obviously we, Japanese production has been struggling.

“Getting into the biggest TV program w/one sword as a Japanese in such weapon oriented country, gives image of the scene where east & west in Japan w/Samurai dignity confronting westerner w/guns.”

In related news, Platinum Games’, Atsushi Inaba mentioned in a series of tweets that they know the reaction to the trailer has been mixed but they are giving their blood and sweat to the game.

They also like Raiden a lot, and also the concept of hack and slash.

“Many seem to think the change from MGSR to MGR altered everything about the game, but this is simply not true,” he revealed.

“MGSR’s concept excited us. We have love and respect for it, as we do the character of Raiden and the idea of freely cutting anything apart. I know reaction to the new trailer is mixed. Yet I also believe our love and respect shines through.

“It is my hope that you catch a glimpse of the future in the footage.

“In order to achieve that evolution, that future, we at PlatinumGames will continue to fight, shedding our own blood, sweat and tears.”

It looks like Platinum Games are very determined when it comes to developing the game, and this has to be a good thing, obviously.

Metal Gear Rising will release on the PS3 and Xbox 360. PC version is not confirmed so far.
