Call of Duty Black Ops 7

Activision may have likened the marketing of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to dropping a Beyoncé album, but it probably didn’t expect details from an internal playtest to leak. Spotted by Charlie Intel via the Xbox Call of Duty app, the developer’s Message of the Day revealed two new modes (with images).

The first is Overload, described as two teams of six players fighting over a “neutral EMP device” to deliver to the enemy’s HQ. Victory is achieved by completing this objective multiple times until reaching the score limit, which sounds similar to One Flag Capture the Flag.

The other notable multiplayer mode is Skirmish, a 20v20 affair on a large map with multiple objectives. Players will “capture points of interest, destroy payloads, and transmit valuable data”, achieving victory by hitting the score limit. Wingsuits are available for traversal.

Of course, the images also showcase what could be a scorestreak (a heavily armed robot dog) and the return of Omnimovement, judging by the player diving. Exoskeletons are also seemingly returning, but whether the movement is more Black Ops 2 or 3 remains to be seen.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 doesn’t have a release date, but it’s launching this year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and PS4. It’s also coming to Game Pass with a full reveal sometime this Summer.
