Resident Evil Veronica Will Also Receive A “Major, Several-Hour-Long” Story Expansion – Rumor

Capcom is reportedly adapting the strategy used for Resident Evil Requiem's upcoming story DLC as a "temporary solution" to spin-offs.

With Capcom discussing how Resident Evil remakes fund new titles like Pragmata, it’s also opened up about the lack of spin-offs for the former. Obviously, with new mainline entries and such, it makes sense given that its energies remain focused elsewhere. But as it turns out, the company has a strategy of sorts for this.

It’s reportedly in the form of major expansions for titles like Resident Evil Requiem, says leaker AestheticGamer (aka Dusk Golem). However, while they previously alleged that the latest mainline entry would receive lengthier story DLC that would arrive after Resident Evil Veronica, it seems the latter is also on track for the same.

“*cough* Capcom’s temporary solution to there being no spin-offs in the works is they’ve, in the last few months, decided to focus on major several-hour-long DLC story expansions for Resident Evil Requiem and Veronica, and possibly future RE titles to fit into current pipeline *cough*”, they said on Twitter. This is the first that we’ve heard of the remake receiving an expansion.

Furthermore, this would be a brand-new addition, since the original Code: Veronica never had an expansion. That Capcom reportedly isn’t shying away from doing this with remakes is an interesting strategy, and hopefully one that pans out like Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Separate Ways. Of course, as always, this is apparently a “temporary” solution, so we’ll see if it works long term.

In the meantime, Resident Evil Veronica launches in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Resident Evil Requiem’s story DLC currently lacks an official release date, so stay tuned for official updates.
