As developer The Coalition kicks off the beta for Gears of War: E-Day, the studio has confirmed that there are several known issues with the title and has provided a convenient list for players to look into in case they face any of these bugs. The studio has also noted that the stability and general performance of Gears of War: E-Day is still a work-in-progress, and that players will likely face crashes and performance dips.

As part of the beta, the studio is also testing a variety of things, including latency issues and delays, accessibility features, and even some core gameplay aspects, like the cover system, visual asset popping, and out-of-bounds issues. On the PC side of things, The Coalition recommends that Nvidia users update to driver version 610.74 before launching the game, since older versions of the driver are currently unsupported. AMD GPU users have been recommended driver version 26.6.4, and Intel GPU users have been recommended version 101.8864.

Additional GPU-centric issues revolve around Intel Arc A580 and B580 users, who might end up facing performance issues if Resizable BAR (ReBAR) is disabled in their PC’s BIOS settings. Both ReBAR and Above 4G Decoding being enabled would help alleviate these hiccups. Intel Arc users will also suffer from longer start-up times due to the game’s shaders needing to be recompiled on every launch.

Players that might want to stream or capture footage of their time with the Gears of War: E-Day beta through OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) have been advised to update to version 29.0.0 or beyond to ensure that it doesn’t cause the game to crash.

Some of the more esoteric issues on PC include the potential for the game’s online systems to be blocked for users signed into the Xbox app with one account and the Windows Store with another account. Comodo Antivirus users may also face issues due to the antivirus software blocking the game’s executable files. Disabling Comodo Antivirus is currently the only workaround. Steam Machine users won’t be able to link their accounts during the beta.

Finally, The Coalition has noted that the frame rate for the beta has been temporarily capped at 150 FPS, and frame generation is disabled.

When it comes to Xbox, players on Series S might face some performance hitches during extended Horde Siege mode gameplay when Gears of War: E-Day is set to Quality mode. To deal with this, the studio has recommended that players fully quit and restart the game. Doing so restores normal performance for the next play session.

The current Early Access period for the Gears of War: E-Day beta will run until August 10th, after which it will be opened up to all players and continue until August 17th. It features one map for the Horde Siege mode, two Invasion bosses, 2 PvP modes, 2 Versus maps, all weapons, and 5 unlockable medals. The Horde Siege class levels are capped at 10, and all four of the classes are available to play. Overall player level has been capped at 50.

The full version of Gears of War: E-Day is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S on October 6th.
