With Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls about an hour away from launch, Arc System Works has two more Character Guides to reveal. The first is for Deadpool, part of the Samurai Outriders, and the second revolves around Carnage of the Knights of Doom. Suffice to say that their playstyles offer some of the wildest combinations yet.
Deadpool, for example, has a combination of moves that can harm him as much as his opponent. Some attacks will reduce vitality but increase the healing gauge, like enduring strikes, but he can also “Roman Cancel” to interrupt the latter. And no, that’s not how a Roman Cancel works.
Throw in the usual fourth-wall-breaking moves, whether it’s May’s Totsugeki, M. Bison’s diving foot-stomp or Scorpion’s grapple, and you can keep both you and your opponent guessing. Carnage is a bit more straightforward: Inflict Necrosis on an opponent and his Heavy attacks do more damage, at least to start with.
Said attacks can also deal damage even when blocked, trigger follow-up attacks and lead to Parasite Bomb after every skill. That’s it, but it can lead to some pretty explosive combos, especially when using one of his many blade-oriented skills and following up with Parasite Bomb.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be available on PS5 and PC and includes 18 other playable characters. Check out our feature and stay tuned for more details when it’s available.
