IO Interactive has released a new update for the PC version of 007 First Light, bringing support for advanced Nvidia technologies like path tracing to the game. In its announcement, the company has also revealed a new set of PC specifications that will be required by players who want to play with path tracing enabled.

To run 007 First Light with path tracing enabled at 1080p and 60 FPS, you, at minimum, need a system with either an Intel Core i5-13500 or an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 12 GB of VRAM. Pushing the resolution up to 1440p involves getting a better GPU – a GeForce RTX 5080 with 16 GB of VRAM. Both of these specs target the path tracing options to be set at their medium settings.

For the best performance and visuals at 4K with over 200 FPS through DLSS 4.5 while path tracing is set to high, IO Interactive says you’ll need either an Intel Core i5-13600K or an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU with 32 GB of VRAM. The studio has also noted that all of these recommendations involve DLSS ray reconstruction being automatically enabled.

In a statement, IO Interactive said that it has had to develop significant upgrades to its proprietary engine powering 007 First Light, and the new support for path tracing is a part of this evolution of the studio’s tech.

“Since launch, 007 First Light has included NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and DLSS Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, accelerating frame rates and enhancing image quality for GeForce RTX gamers. As of today, path tracing and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction have been added to 007 First Light, introducing extra-immersive, extra-detailed lighting, shadows, and reflections, making its levels and set pieces even more cinematic. With this update, the game’s visuals are now fully path-traced, maximizing frame rates and image quality on GeForce RTX PCs and laptops.

“The update builds on IO Interactive’s ongoing collaboration with Nvidia GeForce, first unveiled in January 2026 alongside 007 First Light‘s official PC specifications. For the game, IO Interactive significantly advanced its proprietary Glacier engine, evolving it to support the game’s cinematic tone, dynamic action, and breathtaking set pieces, with enhancements spanning more expressive character performances and environments that feel alive and breathing.”

While PC players get to enjoy the new tech, Nintendo Switch 2 owners who have been eagerly waiting for the game for its planned Summer 2026 launch window were recently hit with news of another delay for the port. In a statement, IO Interactive said that it is now targeting a March 2027 window for the Switch 2 version of the game, noting that the extra time will be used towards polishing the port and ensuring that it is a high-quality release.

In the meantime, 007 First Light is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review.
