After Bethesda announced that The Elder Scrolls 6 is its “primary development focus,” it seems there could be an announcement next month. The Verge’s Tom Warren claims its official title will be revealed, and as fans discovered in Starfield, it’s reportedly called The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel.
Sources also told Warren it would be set in Hammerfell, as rumored back in 2018 following its first teaser. It’s allegedly set to tackle the titular Scrolls’ history as players seek to “uncover” their “secrets.” Say what you will, that would certainly mark a departure from previous games in the franchise. Of course, whether it aims to be an Xbox-console exclusive remains a mystery.
It follows Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s praise after a gameplay preview back in August. She praised the “scale and grandeur” as “incredible,” and said the story is “even greater.” Of course, given that this preview came after extensive layoffs and concerns about whether the team could hit development goals, it wasn’t exactly the most appropriate occasion.
Aside from The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda is also working on remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Obsidian Entertainment, which has been reorganized under the company, is working alongside it on a brand-new Fallout project. And if that wasn’t enough, Fallout 5 is the long-term plan, though it’s unclear how long it could take.
