In their E3 conference yesterday, EA finally announced the secret Need for Speed Project Criterion had been working on. It’s titled Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Yes, I know, the third NFS game was called Hot Pursuit as well, and as per the trailer that was shown on-stage, this game follows the same theme as its namesake.
The game will have us taking part in illegal races, taking on cops and our own rivals with a variety of automobile weapons (or weapon-type things… something like that), crashing our way through a plethora of races, much like the Burnout series.
The trailer opens up with a beautiful scene of the mounatins, a gorgeous water body at its roots. The camera zooms in upon one of the green hill’s many winding streets, and shifts its focus to a flashy and oh-so-awesome sports car, zipping its way through the mountainous tracks, evading cops, taking them down. Later, the player’s race rivals join the party, and apart from beating the crap out of the cops, they start beating the player up too.
The video was pretty long, so you can check it out below. The game looked frigging awesome, and much like Criterion’s very own Burnout series. Looking at the developers’ track record, this game surely can’t go wrong. I, for one, am super-hyped.
