Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica Were Meant to Be Switched

After the success of Resident Evil 2, the developers of Capcom decided to go for a sequel as well as an additional game. However after coming up with some really awesome ideas for the sequel, the developers realized that they were in a pickle. Sadly, Capcom had forgotten that they entered into an exclusivity contract with Sony which forced them to release a numbered title on a Sony platform. Thus, Resident Evil: Nemesis was re-branded as Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 3 became Resident Evil: Code Veronica on the Dreamcast.
