Animal Crossing: New Horizons Will (Eventually) Allow Save Data Transfers After All

This is getting harder and harder to keep track of.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons caught has caught some flak in recent days over how it’s handling its saves. In addition to not supporting cloud saves and also only allowing one total save per console (regardless of the number of copies or users), it was originally confirmed by Nintendo that the game also wouldn’t allow save data transfers, which meant that in the scenario that you should ever lose your Switch, you would lose all your progress in Animal Crossing: New Horizons permanently.

After some backlash, Nintendo eventually confirmed that they would be adding a feature to allow users to recover their save data in such cases- but then it recently came to light that that would be a one-and-done thing only. In keeping with these ups and down, there’s now another tidbit of good news that makes swallowing the recent bad one a bit easier.

Over on the official Nintendo UK website, in information published on the game’s page, Nintendo mentions that though save data transfers are not currently supported, the game will eventually be adding a featuring “specific to Animal Crossing: New Horizons to move users and save data to another console” after launch, later this year. Take a look below.

There was some confusion recently regarding the prospect of in-game purchases as well, with its ESRB rating initially suggesting that they would be featured, before being edited and removing any mention of in-game purchases.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out for the Switch on March 20. Check out all the new gameplay footage and details from its recent Direct presentation through here.
