During the ongoing Panel From Hell for Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios revealed that Patch 9 would go live today for the early access title. It will be the last major update before the full release next year (though you can still expect technical patches). It also confirmed that Matt Mercer would voice the legendary character Minsc.
Jaheira and Minsc are party members in previous Baldur’s Gate titles and aren’t just making cameos here. They can both be recruited to your party as companions. Conversely, you can become enemies with them if you’re not careful. As for Minsc’s return, he was petrified and stood as a statue at Baldur’s Gate for 100 years before some magic struck and freed him.
While not initially planned for the game, a story came up that Minsc fit perfectly into, and thus he was included. As for the city of Baldur’s Gate, revealed in The Game Awards 2022 trailer, there won’t be many details right now. However, Larian will reveal more later.
Baldur’s Gate 3 exits early access on PC in August 2023. Stay tuned for more details on Patch 9 when it goes live.
