Ubisoft’s Beyond and Good Evil 2 has had quite a long development process after being officially announced at E3 2016. Nevertheless, it’s slowly trudging forward towards release. Sarah Arellano, who worked as narrative designer on Blizzard’s World of Warcraft and at Volition, has announced her role as lead writer.
While Ubisoft Montpelier is taking decisive steps, it’s hard not to be skeptical of a release anytime soon. Following creator Michel Ancel’s departure from the studio, reports emerged of the cancellation of its Xbox One and PS4 versions. This was followed by rumors of the open-world title suffering a “development crisis” and that it would be cancelled.
Nevertheless, despite reportedly being in pre-production as of February 2022, it seemingly began external play-testing last month. Time will tell when it eventually releases (with rumors indicating a 2024 launch) so stay tuned in the coming months for more details. Who knows? It could re-emerge at Ubisoft Forward on September 10th.
