Tokyo Game Show 2021 has kicked off (in digital format, of course) and new gameplay is being released for a variety of titles. Though Square Enix’s showcase takes place tomorrow, various outlets in Japan went hands-on with Chocobo GP, the racing title full of Final Fantasy characters. Check out gameplay below courtesy of 4Gamer, Famitsu and V-Jump to see various tracks in action.

Chocobo GP is a kart racer much like Nintendo’s Mario Kart series and sees players racing against the AI or friends, using power ups to gain the advantage. Items, in this case, are spells like Fira and there’s a wide variety to deploy. Along with Chocobo, various other characters like Vivi, Moogle and more are also playable.

Releasing in 2022, Chocobo GP will be available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. A release date may be announced in Square Enix Presents: Tokyo Game Show 2021, which streams tomorrow at 3 AM PST, but we’ll see even more of the title on October 3rd. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
