Say what you will about the sheer draconian approach that the Xbox One took with its DRM. In fact, say what you will about how awesome it was and how Microsoft should have stuck with being “Steam for consoles”. The point is: It’s not coming back any time soon. Microsoft thoroughly learnt its lesson following the backlash and anger from several fans from around the world regarding the 24-hour online authentication for its console, region-locking and restrictions on used games. Microsoft further stated that the previous DRM policies were very unlikely to reappear in the future. Sure, the Family Sharing plan may see a resurgence but that’s more or less it.
