Crimson Desert’s Nintendo Switch 2 Version Targets Launch For the First Half of 2027

The chance to take Pywel with us wherever we go, literally, instead of figuratively, is something we’re looking forward to next year.

It’s no secret that we think quite highly of Crimson Desert and have largely approved of everything Pearl Abyss has been doing to make Pywel an open world that keeps its Greymanes coming back for more.

It’s why we’re quite delighted to talk about Pearl Abyss confirming work on a Switch 2 version in an earnings letter to its shareholders, the same one that confirmed a 2026 release window for the planned DLC from the studio’s roadmap. Of course, the Switch 2 version still needs work before it’s ready to go, and Pearl Abyss is targeting the first half of 2027 for its release.

“In the case of Switch 2, the game has reached a playable baseline, and we are currently conducting technical reviews regarding performance optimization and quality standard compliance, targeting a release in the first half of next year.”

While that bit about a playable baseline might seem like it’s a long way away, the studio’s commitment to crafting a version that preserves the best parts of the experience for the Switch 2 could be seen as an indicator that it’s actively developing that version even as it continues to bring new content to Pywel via its constant updates.

“…platform expansion is not merely a straightforward port – the key requirement is ensuring that the game’s graphics, combat action, and seamless open-world experience are fully preserved on each target device.”

You probably shouldn’t expect any significant delays to that release window, unlike the PC and console versions (a story in this one’s saga that we’d rather forget). Either way, we can’t wait to see how the studio manages to make Pywel as bewitching as it is on Nintendo’s handheld.
