Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter

Bungie’s Destiny 2 will see the Season of Opulence launching today, bringing the last premium content release to Annual Pass holders. What’s next? The developer promised a look at the “next chapter” for the shared world shooter. However, after today’s update was datamined (thanks to ResetEra’s Starset), it seems to be a new expansion called Shadowkeep, coming this Fall.

According to the image in question, “terrifying shadows descend upon a forgotten moon”. It then tasks players with returning to the “lunar surface” (which most likely refers to the Earth’s Moon) and journeying deep into a “mysterious enemy citadel.” Eventually, you’ll become a “slayer of nightmares.” If none of that made any sense, we don’t blame you.

Regardless, it’s likely that Bungie will offer more details on June 6th, when it properly reveals this next chapter to the world. It will launch with a physical collector’s edition by the looks of things, which probably includes the base game, both Year 1 DLCs, Forsaken, and the Annual Pass, along with Shadowkeep. We’ll find out in the next few days, so stay tuned.
