Following the New Year and various messages of celebration from the industry, Capcom designer and director Hideaki Itsuno also tweeted his greetings. However, he further added that the “next project is definitely ahead of last year” and asked everyone to “Please look forward to it.”

While not much is officially known about Itsuno’s next project (his last was Devil May Cry 5), rumors and leaks have pointed to it being Dragon’s Dogma 2. A sequel was mentioned in the infamous Capcom leak from 2020 and insider AestheticGamer (known for his reliable leaks on Resident Evil Village) later reported that it would “100 percent” be developed on RE Engine. As such, Itsuno noted in December 2020 that the “new project” was still a “long way off” so it remains to be seen how far development has progressed compared to last year.

Dragon’s Dogma is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Switch. You can check out our review for the game and its expansion Dark Arisen here.
