Ever since its delay last year, Techland’s Dying Light 2 hasn’t had a whole lot of updates or new details. One key development, however, involves the art director and writer Pawel Selinger, who announced on LinkedIn that he had left the company. Selinger first joined as a lead artist and has been with Techland since 1999.
On his LinkedIn feed, Selinger said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the company that has allowed me to develop and fulfill myself for half of my life. Techland, I will always be rooting for you, as well as the great people I have met thanks to you. I wish you that Dying light 2 and subsequent projects will become world hits.”
While the “subsequent projects” part is interesting – since it could indicate unannounced titles or more DLC for the original Dying Light – Selinger’s departure is somewhat concerning. If this was a contracted gig, it would be a whole different matter. The fact that Selinger was the art director and a writer while also spending so many years at Techland is the real issue.
As such, Techland teased last week that there would be some “fresh updates” on Dying Light 2 this year. When exactly it would reveal more remains to be seen so we’ll have to wait. Dying Light 2 is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC but is also planned to be cross-gen title.
