Dying Light The Beast

Techland has announced a four-week delay to Dying Light: The Beast, which will now launch on September 19th. Discussing the recent positive previews, the developer said it’s shifting the release date to allow for “extra polishing work” and to make this “the best Dying Light game we’ve ever released.”

Alongside additional “last little details,” the team is working to fine-tune the gameplay balance, improve the physics quality, tweak cutscenes and player animations, and look into the “clarity of UI.” Next week will see an “update on the game’s gore” and a reunion with Bober the Beaver, Castor Woods’ mascot, who seemingly wasn’t spared from the undead infestation.

Techland will also be at Gamescom, with a playable demo in Hall 6 from August 20th to 24th. While it acknowledges that the delay may be “disappointing,” it says, “We’re almost there, so please bear with us for the remaining 8 weeks.” Interestingly, it didn’t mention how this delay would affect the PS4 and Xbox One versions, slated to arrive after the launch on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates on that front in the meantime.

Dying Light: The Beast takes place over a decade after the first game, with Kyle Crane returning as the protagonist, and promises a 20-hour story. Head here for more details the side content.
