Developer Myrkur Games and publisher Deep Silver have announced that narrative action-adventure game Echoes of the End will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 12. Along with announcing the release date, the studio and publisher have also released an extended gameplay trailer for Echoes of the End, which you can check out below.

The trailer, clocking in at around 17 minutes long, gives us a deep look at not only the combat of the upcoming title, but also its world, how its magic works, and its character-driven narrative. The trailer shows off earlier parts of the game, and there is a focus on showcasing the core pillars of Echoes of the End.

Kicking things off with a routine border patrol, things quickly turn to chaos when siblings Ryn and Cor are ambushed by the forces of neighbouring kingdom, Reigendal. Things come to a head when the duo discover that one of their attackers—Zara—is a vestige like Ryn. This means that, like Ryn, she can also use ancient, volatile magic.

The battle between Ryn and Zara ultimately ends with a stalemate before being interrupted by scholar and explorer Abran Finlay. After being separated from her brother, Ryn must team up with Abram to find him and figure out why Reigendal suddenly attacked.

Along with this core story taking place, Echoes of the End will also involve the hidden history of Aema that will be explored through the bonds that its characters have with each other. The character-driven narrative will also be complemented with motion-captured performances that allow for a wider range of emotional expression for its characters

Echoes of the End was originally announced all the way back in 2021. The title features melee combat that melds standard attacking and defensive options along with magical abilities that meld seamlessly with your attacks. The studio has also stated that players will be able to create “creative combos and interactions” by having Ryn team up with Abram for some of her attacks.

Along with action, Echoes of the End will also feature plenty of puzzle solving that revolves around Ryn’s magical abilities. These can range from simply pushing blocks around to even manipulating gravity to open up new paths forward.

While it was announced quite some time ago, the first time we actually got to see the game was at this year’s Future Games Show Summer Showcase, where a trailer was released.
