Final Fantasy 14

Along with part 1 of patch 5.5 for Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 14, the PS5 version’s open beta will start on April 13th. It will be available to physical and digital PS4 owners along with PS5 players. Along with 4K resolution and higher frame rates, players can also experience faster load times, haptic feedback and 3D audio.

PS4 owners will need to sign into their PSN account on PS5, head to the PlayStation Store and locate the game’s store page. An option for “Final Fantasy 14 PS5 Upgrade Edition (Beta Version)” will be available – download this to launch the PS5 version. Content available in the PS4 version will also be accessible here.

As for new players on PS5, they need to download the “Final Fantasy 14 Free Trial” client from the PlayStation Store once it goes live. Content available is based on the free trial, which includes the Heavensward expansion and a level cap of 60. Interestingly, depending on the open beta’s progress, the PS5 version’s official service will begin immediately after it ends. This means that your data will be transferred over to the full version.

New players who join Final Fantasy 14 will have plenty of content to look forward to after Heavensward, especially with the Endwalker expansion out in Fall. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
