Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

With Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Square Enix working on the final installment in the Remake trilogy, there are a lot of questions. How will it end? Will it include more content and characters from the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7? Whatever the result, it’s confirmed that the world will be “rebuilt” to accommodate the Highwind.

Speaking to The Washington Post, director Naoki Hamaguchi wants to ensure the map is as explorable as the 1997 original. “I definitely want to address the same for what is likely expected from our experience with the Highwind to explore the world.”

The Highwind comes into play during the final act of the game. How the exploration will change with its addition remains to be seen, but at the very least, players may get to venture to Rocket Town. The location is where Cid resides and was subsequently cut from Rebirth to flesh out the Gongaga region (previously optional in the original game).

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 doesn’t have a release date, but the developer has made progress on the script. Stay tuned for updates in the coming years. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is available for PS5 and has sold over 262,000 physical units in Japan for its launch week. Check out our review here.
