Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Trailer Teases Magitek Armour

For the Chocobo mounts.

For all the claims that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will avoid the pitfalls of the original, there was bound to be something or the other that would trip up our faith. As the closed beta for the MMORPG is on-going, Square Enix have released a new trailer for the game that shows off the new Magitek Armour.

Nothing much is really shown, until you realize that this is effectively armour for the Chocobo mounts. On one hand, this looks particularly alright. Nothing offensive. But then you remember that Bethesda offered horse armour DLC at one point. And that just went south in a hurry.

However, hopefully the new Magitek Armour points to a positive direction for the MMORPG and not just a useless cosmetic change when the game finally launches in mid 2013 for PlayStation 3 and PC. As of now, the interface and graphics have been totally revamped with new jobs, quests and areas being added.
