In a new round of interviews, Sucker Punch Productions revealed more about Ghost of Yōtei and how its length is similar to Ghost of Tsushima. The latter’s story takes about 25 hours to complete, but aside from more varied activities, how much more similar is the sequel in that regard?

Speaking to VGC, co-director Jason Connell said the team “designed the game with some of the similar numbers, in terms of scale and scope of the last experience, in mind. In that way, we actually found it to be quite satisfying, and there were some good numbers to jump off of.”

And while the amount of additional side content is unconfirmed, Connell says that it’s similar “in terms of the time commitment” to Tsushima. “We feel that the experience of playing through Ghost of Yōtei, whether you’re just ripping through the story, or you’re somebody that likes to just go through the whole world and explore, or you’re that hardcore platinum chaser – that it is a similar experience, we expect, in terms of the time commitment.”

This could mean 62 hours to complete everything, per HowLongToBeat’s Completionist estimate of Ghost of Tsushima (which doesn’t include Legends or the Iki Island expansion).

Ghost of Yōtei launches on October 2nd for PS5, with the plot revolving around finding and eliminating each member of the Yōtei Six. However, there are plenty of other activities to indulge in, from the traditional Bamboo Strikes to coin and drinking games. Atsu can also investigate leads for upgrades and take bounties for money.
