It’s been roughly a year since SIE Santa Monica’s stellar God of War released for PS4. Having sold over five million units in its first month and received tons of critical acclaim, the sequel did a fantastic job introducing Kratos to a new generation. To celebrate the game’s first anniversary, Sony has revealed some freebies for fans who stood by the brand.

Along with a “Thank You” video, the publisher is giving away a God of War Anniversary avatar set for PS4 users. You also get a nice PS4 dynamic theme, which sees Kratos and Atreus calmly traversing the Lake of Nine. Both will be free on the PlayStation Store for all PS4 owners, even those who don’t own the game.

Of course, given the term “freebies”, director Cory Balrog re-affirmed that no DLC was coming in a recent tweet. Back in January, Balrog talked about plans to have DLC but ended up abandoning them due to their sheer ambition. If and when the sequel happens, the developer has confirmed that it will be “bigger, better, and longer” than its predecessor. As always, stay tuned for more details, and don’t forget to pick up those freebies if you’re on PS4.
