God of War Ragnarok developer SIE Santa Monica Studio has insisted time and time again that the highly-anticipated action-adventure sequel is indeed going to launch in 2022, but when exactly in 2022 can we expect it? Well, it looks like the game could possibly be targeting a Q4 launch window, which would mean a release between October and December.
That’s because of changes made to the game’s launch info on the PlayStation Network databse, as spotted over on Twitter by @PlaystationSize, a page that routinely tracks the PSN backend and updates and changes made to it. Previously, the game’s release date was mentioned as September 30, which, of course, was a placeholder, but nonetheless hinted at a Q3 launch target. Recently, that date got changed to December 31. That’s still a placeholder date, of course, but it might signify that the target launch window has shifted from Q3 of this year to Q4.
This is far from concrete, of course, but if Sony is planning to release The Last of Us’ remake in September as a recent leak seems to have suggested, it would make sense to push God of War Ragnarok back so it launches later in the year.
Recently, God of War Ragnarok received a classification rating in South Korea, suggesting that the game is relatively close to launch. Not long afterward, merchandise listings at online retailers seemed to point to a September or October launch.
If the game is indeed launching in 2022, it shouldn’t be too long before we receive official word from Sony about when to expect it. Stay tuned until then for more updates.
