Out of all the questions about Grand Theft Auto 6, whether it’s eligible for The Game Awards 2026 is a popular topic. After all, it would seem odd if the biggest game of the decade, that too Rockstar’s first in eight years, were somehow excluded from this year’s contenders because it couldn’t make the cutoff date.
Fortunately, it will. According to The Game Awards’ official FAQ under the date for eligibility, it says, “Games must be made commercially available to customers on or before Friday, November 20, 2026, at 9 PM PT. In the Players’ Voice category, games must ship on or before November 30, 2026.”
Suffice it to say that Grand Theft Auto 6 will easily meet that requirement, seeing as it launches on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. And since those picking it up will have reasonable time to decide whether they like it, it wouldn’t be surprising if it ranked high in the Players’ Voice category.
This doesn’t necessarily guarantee the jury will nominate GTA 6 in the Game of the Year category (among others). Either way, the hype is immense, especially after the recent launch trailer featuring new scenes with Jason and Lucia, including more explosive set pieces players will be part of.
Aside from Justice’s new single, “Flower in a Hurricane,” the electronic duo is also composing the original score. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks and head here to learn more about how Rockstar has been changing things even with the title’s launch nearly upon us.
