Of course Grand Theft Auto 6 was going to have a bunch of open-world activities, all designed to distract you from the reason you left the house in the first place.
The gameplay reveal had a lot of that, with the presentation cleverly interspersing routine activities in Jason and Lucia’s life with snippets of everything else they would be getting up to during their time in Leonidas. Well, the city is ours for the taking, with IGN reporting on new gameplay details after an extended look at the game at Rockstar HQ.
You can play pool or golf, go scuba diving or kayaking, hit the gym or try your hand at parachute jumping. At the zoo, studying animals will cross each new find off a list you might remember from Red Dead Redemption 2. You can either pet or scold dogs you come across, while NPC interactions could change your plans for the evening if things don’t go the way you want them to. That includes a dialogue wheel, unique and authentic responses to your actions, and animations that take varying factors, like their physical stature, into account.
Of course, ambient dialogue and helpful prompts from either Jason or Lucia when you’re out exploring as either of them lets the magic of Vice City sweep you away to places you didn’t plan on visiting when you set out for the day. Well, that’s exactly what we’re signing up for as we begin the final chapter of one of the longest waits in modern gaming’s history when GTA 6 launches on November 19th.
