GTA 6 Will Have a Review Event to Avoid Leaks – Rumor

Instead of sending out review copies, Rockstar will allegedly fly journalists out for a review event instead to ensure maximum security.

With so many games leaking nowadays, Rockstar Games allegedly has plans to avoid such a scenario with Grand Theft Auto 6. Journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe recently claimed on the X do Controle podcast that instead of sending out review copies, the developer would fly journalists to a location to play the game.

As translated by Portal Viciados on Twitter, “Nobody is going to get the key to this game…It looks like there’s going to be some kind of review event. They’re going to have the journalists travel, stay for days, so there are no leaks…So there’s no risk of leaks, man! Like, everyone’s going to play this indoors.”

The veracity of this claim is up in the air. After all, remember the rumor about Rockstar delaying physical copies to arrive after digital, which Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick denied?

However, the practice itself is nothing new. Such events have been part of the industry for years, especially for previews. With Grand Theft Auto 6 facing a major leak in December 2023 and Rockstar firing employees after alleged security breaches, a review event to clamp down on any potential spoilers before launch wouldn’t be surprising.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Pre-orders allegedly start on May 18th according to Best Buy Affiliate emails, and while we wait for confirmation, Take-Two previously confirmed that launch marketing would begin this Summer. Will that mean a new trailer sometime soon? Perhaps closer to launch? Stay tuned for more updates until then.
