In light of the recent problems faced by Helldivers 2, developer Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO Johan Pilestedt has taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to tell potential players that they should wait until the game can support its player base to purchase Helldivers 2.

“If you have no cash, get it later,” said Pilestedt. “While we made a really fun game it’s worth waiting until the servers can support the capacity.”

Pilestedt went on to state that he would be heartbroken to find out that players that have bought Helldivers 2 using their hard-earned money can’t play due to server queues.

The studio has been working at fixing as many issues plaguing Helldivers 2 as it can, having promised an update for this week to fix some of the game’s “most serious problems”. Helldivers 2 has been incredibly successful, leading the studio to impose a cap of 450,000 concurrent players to prevent excess server load.

On the flip side, the game’s popularity doesn’t seem to be slowing down, having hit 400,000 concurrent players on Steam, overtaking one of the most-played games on the platform in Grand Theft Auto 5.

Helldivers 2 is available on PC and PS5. For more details, check out our review, and here are 15 quality of life changes and features that we believe it needs.
