A new update is available for Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2, which recently won Best Ongoing Game and Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards 2024. Omens of Tyranny marks the return of the Illuminate, the hyper-intelligent faction from the first game, who can seemingly convert people into mindless drones called The Voteless.
While the Illuminate’s goals are unknown, players will venture to colonies within Super Earth to fight back. These include cities with tighter paths, which means doing your best not to get boxed in. Some new vehicles and weapons help on that front, including the Fast Recon Vehicle or FRV (complete with a machine gun turret). Be wary, though, as the Illuminate’s Strider also returns and towers high.
Helldivers 2 is available for PS5 and PC. It’s received multiple updates through the year, including recent balance changes that improved numerous weapons and Stratagems better. Check out our review of the base game here.
