It’s been almost a month since Helldivers 2’s Escalation of Freedom update, with Arrowhead promising multiple changes as part of a 60-day plan. In a new Steam Community post, it confirmed that the next update would land on September 17th and outlined some of the changes.

They include a rework of Armor Penetration and Anti-Tank weapons with over 30 guns and Stratagems receiving a balancing pass. Enemy armor and health values have also been reworked. The amount of different enemies is also being overhauled, with enemy units like the Hulk, Charger, Impaler, and Bile Titan having lower armor. The Devastator and Gunship also fire limited rockets.

The Autocannon, Heavy Machine Gun and Anti-Material Rifle are “more effective”, while flamethrowers have been improved. Arrowhead will also look at “new player fantasies and design goals” based on feedback and gameplay trends.

As for the previously mentioned opt-in testing, the last two weeks saw closed betas. The developer will expand this, inviting “a wider variety of testers to playtest our upcoming updates.” “It will take some time to get the infrastructure in order, but the intent is that these tests will find issues and missteps before we release them to the player base at large, providing a better experience for all players.”

Stay tuned for more details on the update when it goes live. Helldivers 2 is out on PS5 and PC.
