Hideo Kojima’s Physint is Currently in the “Conceptual Stage”

Kojima Productions' founder also considers Death Stranding 2 to be incomplete because of daily interviews, photo shoots, and more.

With Death Stranding 2: On the Beach wrapped and released to extensive acclaim, all eyes are doubtless on Kojima Productions’ next projects. There’s a horror title, OD, published by Xbox Game Studios, and Physint, developed in collaboration with PlayStation, and signalling director Hideo Kojima’s return to the action espionage genre.

However, Kojima has already indicated that the latter will take five or six years to develop. Right now, it’s currently in the “conceptual stage.” While speaking to Indiewire, he revealed that one month after Death Stranding 2’s release, he’s “checking the data of the players all over the world — what kind of weapons they’re using, the routes they’re taking, all this data. I also see these small bugs here and there, so I’m deciding where to fix and what to fix.

“I also am starting to work with the team on ‘OD‘ because that’s a new project, and also doing ‘Physint‘ all by myself because that’s at the conceptual stage. So I’m doing that. And also I have all these interviews every day, and also promotional — photo-shootings, things like that — so I don’t feel like I’ve finished the title [Death Stranding 2], to be frank.”

That last bit is interesting when you consider that Death Stranding received a Director’s Cut with new missions, tools, gadgets, and improvements. While there are no plans for the sequel to receive DLC, an enhanced edition may not be entirely out of the question.

As for Physint, it faced some issues last year due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which was recently resolved. Stay tuned for further updates in the coming months and, more likely, years.
