IO Interactive’s Hitman 3 arrived on Steam last week along with the launch of the Hitman Trilogy for all platforms (including Xbox Game Pass). However, there was significant backlash against the Steam version due to its pricing, especially after it was exclusive to the Epic Games Store for a year.
In a new article, the developer addressed the same: “We didn’t meet our own expectations of a launch experience and we don’t like that our Steam community is beginning their Hitman 3 journey in this way.” To rectify this, it will be upgrading Standard Edition owners to the Deluxe Edition. Deluxe Edition and Hitman Trilogy owners will receive a free upgrade to the Seven Deadly Sins Collection.
This change went live yesterday for current owners. However, anyone who purchases Hitman 3 can avail of the free upgrades up till February 19th. For more details on the game, check out our review here.
Hitman 3 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch (via the cloud). It’s set to receive a new Freelancer Mode this Spring while a new map and features like ray tracing are coming later this year.
