Since the launch of Horizon Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games has regularly out out new patches for the open world action RPG, and though the majority of them have been focused on bug fixes and general polishing, they have brought a couple of quality-of-life improvements here and there as well. Patch 1.07, for instance, finally got Aloy to stop talking about her stash every chance she gets, and last week’s patch 1.09 has also introduced an improvement that, curiously enough, wasn’t even mentioned in its patch notes.

Players now have the option to head into the game’s options menu and turn off animations for picking up wood, stone, healing items, and other similar items in the game’s world. Until now, picking up each of these items has been accompanied by an animation that shows Aloy bending down to gather them, and while it’s only a second long at most, there’s no shortage of players out there who just want to speed up the process, especially given how massive this game is and how often you’re picking stuff up in environments.

With this new option, however, those animations are removed, and Aloy seamlessly picks up items and sends them to her inventory without stopping, similar to how one gathers resources in, say, Ghost of Tsushima. It’s a nice little addition that, unsurprisingly, is being appreciated by many in the game’s player base. Check it out in action below, courtesy of Twitter user @vanishinggracee.
